About Your Inspector

Greg Terry started in the construction industry early with an interest in building and architecture. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree at Cal Poly State University in Construction Management.

Following this prestigious education he went on to work for years as a construction superintendent and project manager. His son Benjamin has now come on board after years of working on construction projects. Working as a team with his father he has become a valuable part of this family operation.

Greg founded Terry Home Inspection Services, Inc. in 1989 and since has inspected well over 14,000 residential structures. As a Certified Master Inspector of the California Real Estate Inspection Association he is the most experienced and respected Home Inspector in San Luis Obispo County.

Greg has not only the education, experience and credentials; he has the uncanny ability of communicating with his clients in layman’s terms. Some defects in a home are self-explanatory – such as a broken window. However, other defects can be highly technical – such as an electrical wiring issue, improper roof installation or a safety hazard with the furnace. Rather than to simply refer you to another tradesperson (as most home inspectors do), Greg will be able to communicate to you why this is a defect, what it will take to mitigate or fix this defect and if a contractor will be needed, what an accurate budget figure would be. If you know why it is a problem and the “pocket book implications” your understanding of the Home Inspection becomes tangible.

A final word from Greg, “You know, I can inspect a multimillion dollar home one day and a single family mobile home the next. And I’ll tell you, for the person buying the mobile home the inspection is just as important to them as the person buying the larger home. That’s the attitude I take into each and every home inspection.”
